Leap Boy

Did you know that I have a leap-year-nephew? Yes. It's true. This little guy, Mason, is four today. He is a funny boy and one of my son's best buddies. He is very smart, and he really loves his mom (my sister). Happy Birthday Mason!

Oh, and doesn't our family make excellent wall art? I ordered this canvas from Canvas People and got a great deal! I am so happy we made the time for family pictures. If you are in the Kansas City area and need a photographer, my friend Pearl is your one stop shop! :)

Happy Mid-Week!

cinnamon roll waffles

I got this fantastic idea from pinterest. WOWza. What a fun and easy breakfast. All you do is buy a tube of cinnamon rolls and then throw them in your waffle maker for 90 seconds. Top with icing, and devour!

Instant, delicious, and fun looking cinnamon rolls.
They were a hit at our house.

Elias loved them... although he currently does NOT love having his picture taken. (Hence, the fake and forced smile.)

Olive also found the little nibbles I gave her to be quite delicious!

This poor baby is getting some teeth in. She's working a cough/cold teething combo. Days are okay, but somehow or another nights have become miserable yet again. Oy!
This too shall pass. (I keep telling myself that, and some moments I actually believe it.)

Have a lovely day!

laughter

{source}

The past couple of months have been pretty hard for me. Olive has had tummy issues, that were hard to differentiate (reflux, constipation, gas, etc.). I knew there was something wrong, but wasn't sure what, and definitely wasn't sure how to help her fix it.

One of the things that really helped me stay lighthearted is the "humor" section on pinterest. The image above had me giggling so hard. You DO know that laughter is the best medicine, right?

Things are looking up. Waaaay up. Olive's tummy has been feeling much better, and as I suspected, switching her to a hypoallergenic formula is doing the trick. That means weaning her before "I" was ready, but it wasn't really about me at this point. Being done with nursing is bittersweet though. Bitter as I transition, but looking forward to some more flexibility will be sweet.

But, best of all, she is feeling better and sleeping better. I'll drink to that (ha!).
Have a great weekend.

pretty things / wits end

One reason I love making jewelry is because I like to wear pretty things. Being about to make jewelry means I get to make my own pretty things as often as I want. Taking a break from stamped jewelry has allowed more time to play around with new designs, and 'test drive' them myself.

Though, as a random side note, I will admit one downfall of making jewelry is that your husband begins to (falsely) think 'Hmmmm, my wife makes her own jewelry. It's so lovely. I doubt I should ever actually buy her jewelry ever again.' (As a note, those are not his exact words, but you get the point.)

Here's the real scoop. I am at my wit's end again. All it takes is two or three bad nights in a row, and I am back to feeling sleep-deprived, and in a very ugly 'survival mode.' Then again, all it takes is ONE good night, and I am back to being chipper, creative, and productive.

All of the "light" in the world can't make up for lack of sleep. But, I do love my happy lamp, and have decided I would recommend it to you, my friends. The only bad thing is that it doesn't help my tendency to get headaches. I haven't payed close enough attention to the correlation though, because lack of sleep will also trigger headaches.

And this is why I have refrained from blogging much lately. All I ever end in talking about is sleep. Someday, hopefully soon, I'll have more on my mind than catching Zzzzzzs.

pictures!

Didn't my friend Pearl do a fabulous job? I am so glad we made this happen.

Family pictures are the sort of thing that
I tend to rank right below diarrhea. (The most difficult part is usually getting everyone readied, presentable, and in a fairly decent mood for the momentous occasion. For photos, that is. Not diarrhea.)

But once the photos have been snapped, and the pictures are in my hands I am soooooo glad we made it happen. Plus, we got to work with my friend who is an amazing photographer. So, it wasn't all that bad.

Happy Thursday! We are off to a company dinner for Timmy's work. My sister is watching the kiddos, and I am going to try and enjoy myself and not think about how their schedule is getting destroyed. (Have I ever mentioned I have a few Type-A tendencies?)

I long to be the Type-B person of my dreams. I do!

Have a great day!
